(GR) (OL) In this course, cnadidates will explore the emergence of gifted education in America by explaining the historical, legislative, and leadership milestones that have shaped current thinking about the role of gifted education, its educators, and students. Further, the course engages candidates in the acquisition of a knowledge base for the role of major historical and legislative milestones that lead to current practices in the gifted education field. Finally, candidates, through course assignments, readings, and discussions, undergo a social transformation into teacher leaders who recognize the needs, challenges, and opportunities related to teaching gifted children in a PreK-setting.
